Command map-based prescriptions and do on-screen mapping

2630

Map-based prescriptions are part of the Basics package and come as standard equipment on the GreenStar™ 3 (GS3) 2630 Display. A prescription or variable-rate application plan is first written in Apex™. It is then saved to the USB device and taken to the GS3 2630 Display. When the prescription is enabled in the display, the GS3 2630 commands the prescribed rates to the controller according to the global positioning system (GPS) location of each prescription zone.
Allows variable-rate applications with various rate controllers

The GS3 2630 Display is capable of communicating and sending prescription rates to the following controllers:
  • John Deere sprayers with Gen IV SprayStar™ controllers
  • John Deere SpreadStar™ drybox controllers
  • John Deere planters with SeedStar™ Gen II variable-rate drives
  • All John Deere 1910 (and certain 1900) Air Carts equipped with variable-rate drives
  • GS Rate Controller
  • Raven SCS 440™
  • Raven SCS 450™
  • Raven SCS 460™
  • Raven SCS 660M™
  • Raven Sidekick™
  • Rawson® ACCU-RATE®
  • Rawson® ACCU-PLANT®

Third-party shapefile conversion with GreenStar 3 system

Shapefile conversion
Shapefile conversion

In addition to using prescriptions created expressly for the GS3 2630 Display, the system is capable of converting ESRI® shapefile prescriptions. Shapefiles must include the following files in an Rx folder:
  • .shp
  • .shx
  • .dbf
If the files above are not included in the Rx folder, the prescription shapefile will not appear in the display drop-down menu.
Ensure complete field coverage with on-screen mapping

On-screen mapping
On-screen mapping
On-screen mapping is part of the Basics package and comes as standard equipment on the GS3 2630 Display. This feature helps ensure that all areas of the field are covered before moving on to the next job.

On-screen mapping includes the following:
  • Two available foreground layers, coverage or as-applied data
  • Many background layers, including prescription overview, and aerial photo
  • Infinite zooming and panning
  • Fixed field, moving map, and perspective views
  • Full-screen mapping option
  • Boundary recording
  • Flags
Map boundaries of a field

Boundaries can be driven and created for fields in the GS3 2630 Display. They can be loaded into Apex for future use in map-based prescriptions or with John Deere Section Control.

Choose from three boundary types on the GS3 display:
  • Exterior
  • Interior
  • Headland
Exterior boundaries

Exterior boundaries mark out the outside of a field and notate its total acreage.

Interior boundaries

Interior boundaries mark out places within the field that are non-productive areas, such as washouts or waterways. Interior boundaries are subtracted from the total acreage.

Headland boundaries

Headland boundaries work off of exterior boundaries to show in the guidance or mapping view where a headland pass is. An alert can be set up to let the operator know when they are approaching the headland.
Background images
Background images allow viewing a layer in the map that provides a frame of reference for where the operator is in the field. A foreground layer appears on top of the background layer as the vehicle is moving.

There are multiple choices for background images in the GS3 2630 Display.
  • Variety map
  • Aerial images
  • Prescription overview
  • Soil map
  • Rate layer
  • Elevation map
  • Management zone
  • Product type
Variety map
The GS3 2630 can be used to document a variety map. This map can be loaded into Apex Farm Management software and then saved back to the GS3 2630 to be used as a background map during harvest.

Aerial images
Aerial images may be downloaded using Apex software through the GSDNet application or imported from another source into Apex. They are then saved to the card and sent out to the display.

Prescription overview
When running a prescription, a picture of the prescription may be selected as a background layer to let the operator know where the various management zones for the fields are located.

Soil maps
Soil maps may be downloaded using Apex software through the GSDNet application or imported from another source into Apex. They are then saved to the card and sent out to the display.

Rate layer
The GS3 2630 can be used to document a rate map. This map can be unloaded into Apex Farm Management software and then saved back to the GS3 2630 to be used as a background map during harvest (examples: nutrient application or chemical application).

Elevation maps
Elevation maps may be downloaded using Apex software through the GSDNet application or imported from another source into Apex. They are then saved to the card and sent out to the display.

Management zone
A management zone can be created using Apex software and then saved to the GS3 2630 to be displayed as a background map.

Product type
The GS3 2630 can be used to document product type. This map can be unloaded or created in Apex Farm Management software and then saved back to the GS3 2630 to be used as a background map.

Mark rocks, weeds, trees, or even tile lines on display using on-screen mapping flags

Flags can be recorded and viewed on the GS3 2630 Display. This gives the operator an easy way to mark rocks, weeds, trees, or even tile lines on the display. Flags can then be unloaded in Apex software for future use.

Choose from three flag types on the display.
  • Point
  • Line
  • Area
Point flags

Point flags are used to mark a single reference point on the display, such as a rock or tree.

Line flags

Line flags are used to mark a line shape in the field. This is useful for marking tile lines or terraces.

Area flags

Area flags are used to mark wide spaces on the display, such as a patch of weeds.
Various mapping options allow user to choose view

Choose from three map views on the GS3 2630 Display:
  • Moving map view – Vehicle stays in the middle of the screen and the map moves around it
  • Fixed field view – Field stays fixed, and the vehicle moves
  • Perspective view – Gives behind and above views, similar to guidance screens
Full-screen mapping

The entire screen of the display can now be used to show on-screen maps.
